A lovely hotel We enjoyed a lovely overnight stay on our trip to visit relatives in Northern NSW. The hotel was comfortable and relaxing, pitch black and quiet ensuring an excellent sleep. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Covid restrictions meant that times were offered for breakfast and initially we thought 9.15 (we were offered 7.45 as well) may have been too late however we slept so well it was actually a perfect time slot. The hotel was decorated in a very thoughtful way and the ease of parking, proximity to the lovely Cook Park, restaurants and wine bar meant our first visit to Orange was most enjoyable.
Best in orange ? A great "little" hotel - we had to wait a few visits to orange before securing dates available!!! That's about all I need say !!! This hotel is in demand for good reason . The larger suite is well worth the cost !! Lovely lounge bedroom and a large veranda to have your afternoon wine or cocktail!!! Lovely breakfasts too. 5 Star stay in Orange!!!
Byng Street Boutique Hotel - great experience! We recently spent 3 nights at this excellent little hotel. The creative and tasteful design and decor of the rooms and common areas - the new part of the hotel- was excellent. We loved the artwork and many of the pieces.
The room was attractive and very comfortable. The breakfasts in the charming well preserved old part of the building were excellent.
Service from the owner, Tom, and all his staff without exception, was professional and friendly.
We’d highly recommend this hotel if you’re spending time in Orange!
Excellent stay From the time we arrived we loved this place. The service was excellent. So friendly & very helpful staff. The rooms were spacious, modern & clean. The shared lounge areas were warm & inviting to share a drink outside your room. A really nice vibe around this boutique hotel. We would highly recommend this place for a unique experience More
Outstanding stay From start to finish this was a truly lovely stay - this new hotel is beautifully appointed, our 'standard' room was fabulous, there is a wine bar right next door so NO need for driving as you're in the middle of Orange CBD ... yet is absolutely quiet for sleeping in. The breakfast was truly foodie gourmet and the staff were so polite and helpful. It's totally worth the splurge to stay here, we had a fabulous time! More
Total Lack of Empathy We booked this hotel to stay 2 nights.
On our travel to the area, my wife experienced a serious incident resulting in her being taken to hospital and then medically transferred further to access critical medical care.
To ensure we did not inconvenience places we had booked we immediately advised all further bookings for restaurants and accommodation.
Understanding the seriousness of our predicament, all suppliers were fabulous with the exception of The Byng. Surprisingly the accomodation we had already checked in to on the evening of the incident, when informed we were being transferred to a bigger hospital, without asking they returned our accomodation charge. They have since followed up several times to enquire on progress.
I notified The Byng on Tuesday evening approximately 44 hours before our arrival and explained what had occurred. To my surprise I was advised I was within the 48 hour cancellation window and we would be charged. After discussion, advised that if they resold the room we would receive a refund.
Five days after when we were due to arrive I chased the property to be told that they had resold one evening and we would receive a refund of one night. After discussing my total surprise I was advised they would speak to the owners. Shortly after I received a call saying they would not be offering a full refund as per conditions but as a gesture they would provide us with a credit. Considering we live 1000 km away and my wife will be unable to travel for many months, I found the offer offensive.
In hospitality it is about reading a situation and understanding that things may occur outside of peoples's control.
This total lack of empathy shown by the hotel has left us with a very bad impression of the property and those who make the decisions.
Great Rooms, Great Location A most welcome addition to the Orange scene. The Byng Street Hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of some of the city's best restaurants and shops. We had a suite in the original house - a cleverly
renovated and delightful, sunny room with a large lounge room, a welcoming gas /flamed fire for winter and a large, sunny private balcony. It was well worth the extra cost involved. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and he room was specious. Staff are helpful and friendly and the breakfasts served in a small dining room are top quality. A light supper delivered to the rooms are a nice touch. There is off street parking for each room . All in all, it was a delightful short break experience. More
Highly recommended We stayed in a suite in the modern wing. It was utterly delightful. So often modern buildings are bland boxes. This was funky, full of atmosphere and of a high standard. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive. Little touches added to the charm, such as a turn down pot of tea being delivered to our room; a lovely surprise. The only thing I would change is that the water wasn’t hot enough for a pre-bed bath. A shame as the bathroom is luxurious and the bath was very inviting. Overall though I highly recommend this hotel. One of the best we have stayed in (and we have high standards!).
At end of the day quality costs nothing I've long believed that at end of the day quality costs nothing, You can by a cheaper mobile than an i-Phone and a less expensive vacuum cleaner than a Dyson but at the end of the day after you have replaced their substitutes 2-3 times you may as well have gone with the quality version. After a wonderful weekend in Orange, I will be adding The Byng Street Boutique Hotel to that list.
From the moment we checked in the quality touches were evident: a warm professional welcome; our bags carried from the car to our rooms; an explanation of the features and options; a map of the local wineries (without us having to ask); recommendations for dinner; the turn-down tea and cake and a perfect breakfast with local produce. Sure all of that adds up but at the end of the day you can save a bit but not get anywhere near the same level of satisfaction. From my point of view while you pay a bit more for quality, at the end of the day it's a worthwhile investment
Thank you to the team we had a wonderful stay and we will recommend you to others.
Faultless This cosy boutique hotel located just behind the Main Street of Orange was a wonderful retreat on our recent visit to Orange. From probably the best bed we’ve slept in to lovely included breakfast and turn down treats and tea at night, the experience was faultless. The current global situation has made us open our eyes to our own backyard and this hotel was as good as any we have stayed in anywhere in the world. I post this with apprehension as I am selfish and know that the reputation of this venue will make it harder and harder to book in to in the future. We will definitely be back. More
